The Indianola Public Library and Des Moines Metro Opera are pleased to announce that the library’s popular storytime program will be returning to its original home at the historic Indianola Carnegie Library on Saturday, April 29 from 11:00-1:30pm.
Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy “The Pet of the Met” read by Janis Comer, Children’s Services Librarian, in what used to be the children’s room at the Carnegie Library (now home to the Des Moines Metro Opera). “The Pet of the Met” tells the story of Maestro Petrini, who is the only mouse at the Metropolitan Opera House, the perfect place for a music loving mouse and his family. The only danger is Mefisto, the opera house cat, who hates music and mice–until one day when he listens to Mozart’s The Magic Flute and becomes enlightened.
We hope you’ll join us for this special Storytime at the Carnegie. There will be exciting stories, lively music and a delicious picnic lunch on the lawn. While you’re here, learn more about our exciting plans to restore and expand the old library and take a tour of the facilities!
